Kwik Star's new west side location is Webster City's second. The company operates 146 stores in Iowa, and others in Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Michigan.

Webster City Community and Economic Development Director Ariel Bertran has provided The Daily Freeman Journal with a list of 10 large commercial projects completed in Webster City during calendar years 2024 and 2025.

Three of those; a new Kwik Star convenience store; expanded production facilities at Mary Ann’s Specialty Foods and the new Reisner Electrical Substation, each exceed $2 million dollars in value.

Especially notable is the balance between industrial, commercial and public facility projects in the list. Funding sources include private investment, local tax proceeds, and grants.

With the announcement of redevelopment of the former Doc’s Stop convenience store on the city’s south side recently, Bertran proclaimed,

“It’s a new day for development in Webster City.”
