Holly Hunter, assistant manager, is managing the new Hopstop Liquor and Grocery in downtown Webster City.
Hopstop Liquor and Grocery opened in downtown Webster City in March. Located at 546 Second St., the new business is owned by Adil Rassool.
Rassool owns three other locations, including those in downtown Story City, Ames and Iowa Falls. The soft opening has been done while awaiting final coolers and equipment to arrive. They are currently stocking a wide assortment of beverages and snacks; liquor, smokes, lottery tickets, vape, pop, candy and beer. When completed, the store will have a freezer for ice cream and frozen pizza, fountain pop and coffee machines.
They also have an ATM machine and will be getting a bit coin machine.
“We are asking people what they want to see us carry,” said Holly Hunter, assistant manager.
Hunter has been working for Rassool since 2022 in Ames. Hunter, who lives in Iowa Falls, encouraged Rassool to open a location in Webster City.
“If you compare prices to any other store, we will have cheaper prices,” she said.
Even though the store had a quiet opening, their first weeks have been good.
“We had nearly 50 people come in our first Friday. I think this will be pretty good for the business.” she said.
The store hours will be from Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday will be from 9 a.m. to midnight. The store phone number is 515-626-0583.
