Van Diest Medical Center will offer Better Choices, Better Health, Iowa’s Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, this spring in Ellsworth.

The free, interactive six-week workshop series will meet Thursdays, from April 9 through May 14 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Each session is led by two certified instructors.

Designed to help participants gain confidence and take charge of their health, the program covers practical tools to manage ongoing health conditions while staying active. Topics include:

• Communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals.

• Techniques to address isolation, frustration, fatigue, and pain.

• Tips for healthy eating and safe physical activity.

• How to evaluate treatment options and create realistic action plans.
