Sheriff Pruismann is pretty excited about adding the Crimestoppers tipline to the Hamilton County Sheriffs department app for phones.
Just ask him. He will quickly open his phone to show you how it works.
It’s a pretty nifty little tool, and consolidates a lot of things we need to know about in Hamilton County.
The most recent addition will allow tips to come directly to the sheriff’s office in multiple different ways. The phone number will still work, but it now goes directly to the Sheriffs department, which allows a much faster response time.
The last posting of the crimestoppers most wanted list had the fastest response yet.

“With the new system, they got almost everyone really quickly,” Pruismann said.
The app is free and without advertising. Currently there are about 2,000 phones which have connected to it. It works on I-phones and on android phones. and downloads very quickly.
“My goal: I’d like to have it downloaded 7500 times,” Pruismann said. That number is based on having approximately 1500 households in Hamilton County.
In addition to the tip line, the app links to several sites that will help keep Hamilton County residents safer, such as the National Weather service, and the Iowa 511 website.
There are multiple other links that are updated through the county offices or other agencies directly. It allows users to keep critical information about what is happening in the county all in one place, without having to look at other apps or websites.
There has been a video created by Kent Bailey of OHP Marketing Services that demonstrates how to use the app. One place this is viewed is at the movie theatre, the very last one before the movie starts.
So far, the click rate has hit 50,000 times since it’s inception. Weekly they have more than 3600 clicks.
Every click represents a phone call they might have made, but with answers so easy to access, it’s saving both time and frustration.
And when Sheriff Pruismann thinks of something else that should be on it, you can be assured it will be there soon.
