The Webster City Community Theatre will be opening this winter’s production of “12 Angry Jurors” on Friday night.

The production begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Webster City Performing Arts Center located at 1001 Willson Avenue.

12 Angry Jurors is a powerful courtroom drama set entirely in a jury room, where twelve citizens must decide the fate of a teenager accused of murder.

The play brings with it the natural instincts that come when set on a jury. Background and opinions weigh heavily in the room, as deliberations unfold. Jurors confront personal biases, challenge assumptions, and discover that justice requires courage, patience, and an open mind.

This show is based on the 1954 teleplay, “12 Angry Men” by Reginald Rose and adapted for film in 1957. The original script was based on a real jury experience which Rose had in the mid 1940’s. The film version starred some of the biggest names of its time, such as Henry Fonda and Lee J Cobb.

The production is directed by John Marvel, assisted by Anne Blankenship, with Ann McLaughlin serving as technical director. The cast includes Eric Heckert, Amelia Oliver, Rachel Derrig, Nicole Ose, Jennifer Rank, Dane Barner, JT Lahr, Abby Heckert, Mark Andrew, Reba Stein, Kevon Edwards, and Stephanie Hill, with Mark Dohms as the bailiff
