Heidi Mendoza and Cole Nohrenberg crowned king and queen

King Cole Nohrenberg and Queen Heidi Mendoza were crowned at the Webster City High School Winterfest rally in the Prem Sahai auditorium on Thursday afternoon.

The Webster City High School students crowned Heidi Mendoza as queen and Cole Nohrenberg as king at the afternoon assembly held at the Prem Sahai auditorium on Thursday afternoon.

Queen Heidi is the daughter of Milton and Kristi Mendoza. King Cole is the son of Melissa and Chad Nohrenberg.

Other members of the queens court are Jakaela Cherry, Kate Feltz, Kaylee Kohl, and Addelyn Pruismann. The kings court includes Jack Barner, Justin Callahan, Braylon Dyvig and Jaxon Griffith.

Students and teachers gathered in the auditorium to celebrate their winter sports teams, and prepare for a busy weekend.

The cheerleaders and “friends” from the high school basketball team entertained the students with dance steps and cheers with the WCHS pep band.

All week the students and teachers have been celebrating the winter sports activities. During the assembly, each team was introduced, and their coaches offered praise and encouragement to not only their team, but to the other teams representing Webster City High School during the assembly. The boys wrestling teams had home meets on Thursday evening.

Friday, students throughout Webster City are encouraged to show their support to the teams by wearing Lynx gear. The schedule for Friday night basketball included the junior varsity boys and girls both playing at 4:30 p.m., the 9/10 boys at 6 p.m., the varsity girls at 6 p.m . and the varsity boys would play at 7:30 p.m.

The king and queen, and their court will be introduced Friday night between the junior varsity and varsity games.

The week wraps up on Saturday night with the Winterfest semi-formal dance, to be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the high school in the P.E. gym.
