The 2026 Winterfest Court for the Webster City High School was voted on last week by the senior class. This is the introduction to a full week of celebrating winter sports.
“The seniors vote to select the court, five boys and five girls,” said Danika Klaver, student council sponsor, “Starting Monday, the whole student body will vote to select the king and queen.”
The king and queen will be determined by the students. The ones with the most votes will be crowned king and queen. This will be announced during a special assembly at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, when they will be crowned in the Prem Sahai auditorium at Webster City High School.
The members of the court, along with their parents, will also be introduced at the basketball game between Algona and Webster City on Friday evening. This will be done during the break between the junior varsity and the varsity games.
All week the students and teachers will be showing their support with different themes.
Monday is USA day, where everyone is encouraged to dress in red, white and blue.
Tuesday is soccer mom and barbecue dad day.
There is no school on Wednesday.
Thursday will be Jersey Day, where any jersey from any sport should be worn.
Friday will be Lynx Pride Day, with purple and gold the colors of the day.
The week will wrap up with the Winterfest on Saturday night. This semi-formal dance will be held in the physical education gym in the high school, across from the Prem Sahai auditorium. The dance begins at 8 p.m. and will wrap up at 11 p.m.
