’12 Angry Jurors cast’ is announced

Webster City Community Theatre –WCCT–announces the cast for its upcoming production of “12 Angry Jurors,” a powerful and thought-provoking courtroom drama.

Performances are scheduled for Feb. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, and March 1.

The production will be held at the WCCT Performing Arts Center, located at 1001 Willson Avenue.

The cast features a strong ensemble portraying the twelve jurors tasked with determining the fate of a teenager accused of murder. Actors cast as jurors include Eric Heckert, Amelia Oliver, Rachel Derrig, Nicole Ose, Jennifer Rank, Dane Barner, JT Lahr, Abby Heckert, Mark Andrew, Reba Stein, Kevon Edwards, and Stephanie Hill. Mark Dohms will appear as the bailiff.

The production is under the direction of John Marvel, with Anne Blankenship serving as assistant director. Ann McLaughlin is the technical director.

“12 Angry Jurors” takes place entirely inside a jury room as 12 citizens begin deliberations on what initially appears to be an open-and-shut case.

As discussion unfolds, jurors are forced to reexamine the evidence, confront personal prejudices, and wrestle with the moral responsibility of deciding another person’s fate. Tensions rise, alliances shift, and perspectives change as the group learns that justice requires careful consideration, courage, and an open mind.

Originally written by Reginald Rose as “12 Angry Men,” the story first appeared as a CBS teleplay before becoming an acclaimed feature film and later a stage adaptation.

“12 Angry Jurors” is a modern version of the play, adapted to allow for a mixed-gender cast while preserving the original structure, dialogue and powerful themes that have made it a classic.
