Birkestrands announce new owner for Osweiler’s
Ron and Kathy Birkestrand announced in a press release Tuesday that they have sold Osweiler’s Fashion store in Webster City. The new owner is Sonia Sosa Rodriguez.
Rodriguez will take ownership February 1, 2026, and plans to have a grand opening in March when her spring merchandise arrives.
Rodriguez has worked for the Birkestrands for the past 14 years. She has been working closely with them, accompanying them at market and managing the floor in recent years.
The Birkestrands announced their retirement in September after 42 years when they first purchased the store from Paul Osweiler. They purchased the business, then later the building in the 1980’s. Osweiler’s is a name that has been woven into Webster City’s story for generations. Originally founded in the 1950s, the brand grew steadily as a trusted source for quality women’s apparel.
“It’s been a wonderful experience working in Webster City,” shared Ron, co-owner of Osweiler’s in an interview last fall. “The friendships we’ve made and the memories we’ve built will stay with us long after the doors close.”
The retirement sale at Osweilers will continue through the month of December. Rodriguez will help transition for the next few months, attending market and will reopen the store with new spring merchandise.
