Hamilton County Democrats hosted Dave Dawson, a candidate seeking the 4th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, during a Meet & Greet Sunday at the Webster City Fire Station.
The seat was once occupied by Republican Randy Feenstra, who is running for governor to replace retiring Gov. Kim Reynolds.
Dawson, of Lawton, is a two-term Iowa state representative who is also president of the Siouxland Council on Child Abuse and Neglect, according to a media release.
He is also an advocate for Head Start, family development programs, and fair wages. He has been an AFSCME union member since 2003.
In his nearly two decades working as a prosecutor, he argued and won a case at the Iowa Supreme Court to safeguard children’s rights.
Dawson was born in Cherokee and raised in Washta.
Stephanie Steiner, of Sutherland, is also seeking the 4th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
She said she was spurred to action after the passage of the Republicans’ “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” according to a media release.
Steiner’s career experience includes working as a women’s health nurse.
Her priorities are protecting children’s future, including by not banning books; investing in public school and curtailing Iowa’s education savings account program; rebuilding rural healthcare; defending reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ Iowans, putting people over politics, Second Amendment rights, and term limits.
