Saturday in the Park, I know it is October 11, not the fourth of July.
Strains of the famous song by Chicago will be running through your head, as this year’s second annual Fall Festival kicks off Saturday afternoon.
Activities at the Wilson Brewer Park will begin at 1 p.m. located at 220 Ohio Street, with more vendors and activities for young families, old families and history lovers, as the park is fully open for the event.
This year, the festival will have two train activities to highlight: a steam train engine demonstration near the cabins, and barrel train rides for $1 that start at the Depot.
The Fall Festival is an opportunity for families to enjoy the park, and view the buildings that make up the Wilson Brewer Park.
The six historic buildings will be open for viewing during the festival. This includes the Courthouse which has been rebuilt during the past few years, and the historic depot where many historic artifacts are on display.
The event begins at 1 p.m. and lasts until 4 p.m.
Fall Fest organizer, Ryan Rupiper has been serving on the Wilson Brewer Park Foundation board since July 2024. He said he really wanted to show people how much the park has to offer.
“There was no fall event for families to celebrate autumn,” said Rupiper, who is vice president of the Wilson Brewer Park & Depot Foundation, “This will also give us a chance to showcase some of the work that has been done in the past year and allow people to enjoy the museum in the depot.”
This family-friendly event will see the return of country musician Birdy Young, in addition to yard games, the petting zoo, pumpkin painting, fall decor from Polly’s Garden Center, and kittens from The Cat Hut.
Among the many new additions will also be an Antique Ice Cream demonstration and an opportunity to make smores in the park, which is being coordinated by Trinity Lutheran Church.
Additional fall decor will also be coming from Mickie’s Cute Creations, Country Twist Boutique and Kaines Crystals and Rocks in addition to many other venders.
More food trucks will be on hand this year, including Bellbottom Mobile Cafe, Berry Nice Sweet Treats, Taqueria El Paraiso and The Emergency Scoop.
Around the city, other fall fun will be going on as Pumpkin Palooza will be kicking off, with specials at local retailers and a classic car show at St. Thomas Aquinas school.
Sponsors include the City of Webster City, the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce, First State Bank, Hamilton County Development Cass Red Cardinals 4-H Club and Availa Bank.
“People dancing, people laughing, a man selling ice cream.”
This is the type of day at the park that the band members of Chicago were singing about.
