FORT DODGE — A Fort Dodge man has pleaded guilty to abuse of a corpse for his role in helping to move Dennis Jones’ body after his son shot and killed him last year, according to court records.
Aidan Pate, 23, pleaded guilty last week in Webster County District Court. He will be sentenced on November 24 at the Webster County Courthouse.
According to the criminal complaint, on April 25, 2024, Pate aided in moving Jones’ body from his home at 1440 Second Avenue South to a roadside ditch along 280th Street where his body was dumped.
Makayla McNeeley, 29, was also arrested and pleaded guilty to abuse of a corpse for helping to move Jones’ body.
Police and prosecutors say Dennis Jones was shot three times by his son, Alec Jones, 26, on April 25, 2024.
Alec Jones was convicted of first-degree murder last year and is now serving life in prison.
His brother, Nathan Jones, 22, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, abuse of a corpse and accessory after the fact. He is now serving 22 years in prison.
During the trial of Alec Jones, Pate was identified as a friend of the two brothers. He was also identified as the driver of a vehicle that was spotted at the Jones house the night of the murder.
