It was a family ‘a-fair’ at the 2025 Hamilton County Fair

Britta Goodall gives her goat, Belle, a bath, while her mother, Emily, helps wash Midnight. Brelynn is too young at 4 years to show in the bottle goat competition during this year's Hamilton County Fair, but her brother Brackston showed Midnight.

The Hamilton County Fair is over, but it’s worth a look back at all the work that goes into preparing for the exhibits and animal showcases.

Afterall, it’s a family affair.

Tending and caring for the animals and learning how to exhibit and show them is an experience to be shared.

During the fair you can find scenes like this: young people cleaning, feeding and showing their animals.

But it doesn’t stop there. This is a year-long process of raising animals for the show and building the trust? Well, it takes the whole family to accomplish this.

The Goodall family is a great example. They live outside of Jewell, but during fair time they are together in Webster City, helping to prepare their animals to show. This year, they entered their kids in the bottle-goat competition.

Emily Goodall helps her two daughters and son learn how to safely clean and care for their goats.

But cleaning the goats is only part of the job. Dad provides backup. Brock Goodall, cleans the pens out and puts in new bedding while the rest of the family is taking care of the animals.

It’s a family “a-fair.”

Here are some results from the 4-H and FFA contests at the 2025 Hamilton County Fair.
