Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office warns of scam
Hamilton County Sheriff Alex Pruismann warned people Monday of a scam that is onging.
“We have taken several calls today reporting that a deputy from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has called a Hamilton County resident stating that they owe money, missed a summons or have a warrant and will be in legal trouble if they do not rectify said issue.
“The reporting party states the person calling claims to be a deputy within our office and the number comes up as (515) 832-9500, which is our office number. THIS IS A SCAM. They are spoofing our number. We will not conduct business and deal with issues this way. Do not give any information out over the phone, if all else fails please call our office direct, ask about what they are claiming and report the scam.
“Please share to make the public aware. Make sure the ones you know and love who are or may be vulnerable to this type of scam, know about this as well.”
