To clarify the story in Wednesday’s Daily Freeman-Journal, University of Iowa Health Care (UIHC) has acquired Mission Cancer + Blood, but not Van Diest Medical Center (VDMC), nor its clinic.

Van Diest Medical Center partners with Mission Cancer + Blood to offer an Oncology Clinic in its specialty clinic department.

There will not be any changes to its oncology clinic, nor the care offered to patients by Mission Cancer, due to the collaboration between UIHC and Mission Cancer + Blood, according to Lori Foster, senior director of Marketing and Public Relations at VDMC.

Currently, Dr. Robert Behrens and Britta Ten Haken, PA-C, with Mission Cancer + Blood, provide oncology services in Webster City.

Dr. Sydney Brehany is joining Mission Cancer + Blood this month and will see patients in the VDMC specialty clinic beginning in late February.
