WCCT wants you to put its Readers Theatre on your calendar
Webster City Community Theatre’s next Readers Theatre is Sunday, November 10, at the theatre, 1001 Willson Avenue, Webster City.
This event begins at 3 p.m.
The reading is of the script for “Of Men and Cars.” Loween Getter will lead the reading. Participants are encouraged to bring a snack to share and their own beverage.
“Of Men and Cars” is a comedy-drama written by Jim Geoghan who believes: “If you want to have an intimate or meaningful conversation with a man, put him in a car.”
The semi-autobiographical play chronicles 26 years in the life of Jim and his father, who was a WWII bomber pilot. As a child, Jim thought his dad was amazing. As he grew up, he realized Dad was not as amazing as he thought and let him know it. Once an adult, Jim also realized he himself was not as amazing as he thought…and he made it up to his dad before it was too late.
Readers Theatre is a great way to get involved in theatre without committing to rehearsals and memorizing lines. Auditions for “Of Men and Cars” are on December 29-30. There are roles for Jim and Dad, as well as ensemble roles for at least three males and two females who will play multiple characters. This play is scheduled to be performed by WCCT February 28 to March 2, and March 7 to 9.
