Here’s your guide to this year’s Doodle Bug Reunion

They’ll be everywhere around town in the next five days, but if you want to be sure you get up close and personal with Webster City’s own Doodle Bug scooters, here’s the official schedule of events provided to The Daily Freeman-Journal by the Doodle Bug Club of America.

All rides begin at Hamilton County Fairgrounds.

A special, once-in-a-lifetime event at this year’s reunion is the unveiling of a Doodle Bug commemorative sculpture downtown at City Hall, 400 Second Street, Webster City, on Friday. It’s at 3 p.m.

Webster City Police will provide an escort for an estimated 50 Doodle Bugs as they travel from the Hamilton County Fairgrounds for the event.

Here’s a more elaborate schedule:

Today, September 11

9 a.m. — Trail ride

11:15 a.m. — Group ride to Grid Iron Sports Bar & Grill for lunch

3:30 p.m. — Group ride to Briggs Woods on the river trail (approximately 12 miles)

6 p.m. — Dinner at Pickles, Kamrar, or the restaurant of your choice

Thursday, September 12

9:30 a.m. — Group trail ride

Noon — Meet at First State Bank parking lot (reserved for Doodle Bug parking) Lunch on your own at downtown restaurants. After lunch, return to the fairgrounds.

2 p.m. — Group ride to the Webster City Municipal Airport, and then Doug McCollough Racing Shop/Garage (approximately 16 miles round trip)

6 p.m. — Ladies Night Out. Restaurants to be announced today.

Friday, September 13

10 a.m. — Coffee at Wilson Brewer Park, Depot Museum complex, 220 Ohio Street, Webster City

Noon — Lunch on your own (Note: When traveling by Doodle Bug, ride in groups of six or more for safety.)

3 p.m. — Ribbon cutting for Doodle Bug sculpture, City Hall, 400 Second Street, Webster City

Afterwards: Test Run Ride, Trail Ride, dinner on your own

Saturday September 14

9 a.m. — Group ride to Briggs Woods on river trail

2 p.m. — Annual Meeting for members only (drawing for prizes and other business)

5:30 p.m. — Banquet (tear-down and clean-up to follow)

Sunday, September 15

8 a.m. — Farewell breakfast, Hy-Vee Cafe (Hy-Vee Supermarket, 823 Second Street, Webster City)
