The collective descendants of O.L. Gilmore and Dale and Gereldine Gilmore Hillyer were presented with the family’s Century Farm designation during the 2024 Iowa State Fair. The land, located in Independence Township, was purchased on February 29, 1924. Today it is owned by Dalene Hillyer Schlitter and Donna Hillyer Foster, the daughters of Dale and Gereldine Gilmore Hillyer. The purchase price of the farm was about $156 an acre, according to the Century Farm application submitted by the family.
