City Council of Webster City expected to vote on Hotel/Motel grants

The City Council of Webster City will meet this evening in the council chambers of City Hall, 400 Second Street, Webster City.

This meeting begins at 6 p.m.

The council is expected to vote on Hotel/Motel Tax Grant recommendations presented to it by the Hotel/Motel Tax Board as a result of its August 1 review of the grant proposals for this latest round, which is Round 27.

Here are the grant recommendations that board passed during its August meeting.

— To LIFT WC, which requested $75,000 to further the Elks Building Rehabilitation, for furnishings in the main floor and ballroom: $60,000.

— To Arts R Alive in Webster City, which requested $4,676 to support the placement of Downtown Sculptures: $4,676.

— To HERO (Help Entertain and Restore Organization), which requested $25,000 to help repair the Webster Theater front brickwork: $25,000.

— To SSMID (Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District), which requested $46,861.55 to place outdoor speakers on Main Street in the 500, 600 and 700 blocks: $31,422.21

— To The DUB Sports Park Inc., a nonprofit whose registered agent is Andrew Hejlik, which requested $15,000 for its The Dub Sports Park Inc. Indoor Athletic Facility Capital Campaign: $15,000.

The Hotel/Motel Tax Board recommended money to be granted totalling $136,098.21.
