Suzanne Sogard is inducted into Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame
Suzanne Sogard, of Stanhope, was inducted into the 2024 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fair on August 18.
Sogard stands as a pillar within the Hamilton County community, her dedication to 4-H spanning generations and leaving a positive mark on the organization.
As a member of the Clear Lake Sailors, Sogard immersed herself in 4-H. Throughout her later tenure as a 4-H club leader, her involvement transcended mere attendance; it embodied a spirit of wholehearted engagement. From chauffeuring participants to meetings to lending a helping hand with projects and record books, she epitomized the essence of dedication. Even after her children graduated from 4-H, her passion endured. She has continued to nurture the next generation of 4-H members and countless others who are fortunate enough to cross her path.
Sogard’s journey in 4-H is not merely a narrative of personal achievement; it is a testament to the transformative power of community and the enduring impact of dedicated individuals. Her legacy resonates not only through the achievements of her own family but also through the countless lives she has touched and inspired along the way.
“We are honored to recognize these special individuals, for their advocacy and dedication to the Iowa 4-H program,” Iowa 4-H Foundation Executive Director Emily Saveraid said.
“This is a great way to honor the volunteers and staff across the state of Iowa that generously give their time and talents to foster positive partnerships with our 4-H youth,” said Tillie Good, Iowa 4-H staff and volunteer development manager.
The Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame was initiated in 2002 to help commemorate the 100th anniversary of 4-H.
