Arrest warrant issued for Lehigh man accused of neglect in death of horses
LEHIGH — A Lehigh man is wanted on charges that his neglect led to the deaths of two horses, according to court records.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Michael J. Dorothy, 46, court records indicate.
On June 14, Webster County sheriff’s deputies observed a dead horse on Dorothy’s property at 772 Oak St.
“The horse appeared to be very malnourished and uncared for,” Sgt. Tony Walter wrote in a criminal complaint filed against Dorothy.
Deputies got a search warrant which enabled them to go on the property with a veterinarian to check the condition of two other horses. Both of those horses were removed from the property based on the veterinarian’s assessment. One of those horses had to be euthanized because of its severe injuries, according to the criminal complaint.
Dorothy was charged with two counts of animal neglect with serious injury or death and one count of animal neglect, no serious injury or death, according to court records.
He was to make his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday. Because he did not show up, Magistrate Willam Habhab issued a warrant for his arrest.
