WCCT to sponsor Youth Theatre Summer Camp in August

Webster City Community Theatre is again joining forces with Coralville Center for the Performing Arts to bring a summer theatre camp experience to area youth August 5-9.

The workshop is designed for students at all levels of theatre experience who will be 7 years of age by August 5 through those entering 8th grade this fall. Campers are required to attend each day Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, bring a sack lunch and personal water bottle.

Registration opened June 1 and is limited to 40 youth. Registration forms will be available on the WCCT Facebook page and its website www.webstercitycommunitytheatre.org, also at the Webster City Chamber office and Kendall Young Library.

The non-refundable registration fee of $100 is due at the time of registration and includes a t-shirt with the show logo and two tickets to the performance on August 9 at 6:30 pm.

A limited number of camp scholarships are available by contacting Loween Getter at 515-297-0846 or grandmaweengetter@gmail.com.

Campers will audition, rehearse, and perform a musical alongside three professional teaching artists … in one week. The Vanishing of the Jolly Roger is a thrilling one-hour production with a script by Katie Colletta and music by Jason Sifford.

The Adventure of a Lifetime

Anchors aweigh! When the Jolly Roger vanished into the Bermuda Triangle 300 years ago, the world thought it was gone for good… until now. Join this swashbuckling pirate crew on an island adventure as they learn what is possible when we work together!

We believe theatre is for everyone. Each student receives a role, a costume, and the support they need to shine in this performance. Our team has decades of experience creating welcoming, engaging children’s theatre programs.

From the first rehearsal to the final curtain, we believe theatre should be educational. We’ll be teaching every student skills like projection, improvisation, creative problem solving, and how to work together to tell a story. We’ll also be learning about the Bermuda Triangle, and exploring some of the most fascinating (and daring!) corners of the ocean ecosystem.

Starting at $3.46/week.
