Two die at rural crossroads in Humboldt County

ARNOLD — Two people died when their vehicle collided with a Ford pickup truck at a rural Humboldt County crossroads late Saturday afternoon.

Theodore Joseph Prenger, 43, and Teresa Ann Prenger, 56, both of Dakota City, died in the accident, according to an Iowa State Patrol accident report.

Terry Dean George, 63, of Hardy, the driver of the pickup, was taken to Iowa Specialty Clinic in Clarion by private vehicle for treatment.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and 170th Street near the unincorporated town of Arnold, which is northeast of Humboldt.

The southbound Prenger vehicle failed to stop and yield the right of way, according to the ISP accident report. It was struck on the passenger side by the front end of the eastbound pickup George was driving.

The deceased were transported from the scene to the state medical examiner’s office by Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Services.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, with the assistance of the Humboldt County Sheriff and Humboldt Fire and EMS.
