Thursday …

Tractors and Doodlebugs at Market Nights — oh my!

Market Nights in Webster City returns this evening in an homage to the community’s agricultural and manufacturing legacy.

Cue the tractors and Doodlebugs.

Tonight’s event is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in historic downtown Webster City. It’s a vibrant collection of activities, vendors and eateries all under the blue sky along the main street.

Plus, tonight race fans — another cultural constant in this community — can save $10 on the purchase price of tickets to the World of Outlaws night on June 25 at Karl Hamilton County Speedway.

Webster City Market Nights is sponsored by American Sanitation.

Back to those tractors and Doodlebugs: Bring your own! Tractor or Doodlebug, that is. They’ll be stationed in the 700 block of Second Street. Enter on the west end of Second Street near Blake’s Automotive if you wish to be a part of the display.

The sound backdrop this week is from Neil Anders, performing classic sing-along hits at Availa Bank Plaza, sponsored by KC Nielson.

Kids activities will include:

Kids Pedal Tractor Race hosted by FFA — Sign up at the Availa Clock before 5:45 p.m. This is for ages 2 to 5, 6 to 9, 10 and up. The races start at 6 p.m.

Family street games: Courtesy of the Webster City Church of Christ.

Hamilton County Conservation will be on hand with Conservationist John Laird.

For adults, there will be a Bags tournament organized by the American Tap, 526 Second Street.

Everyone can partake in the outdoor dining and seating provided by local eateries and watering holes, including Chicago Style, Leon’s, Second Street Emporium, La Perla, and Wildcat Distilling Co.

Food trucks this week includes

Quick & Fresh Kitchen (sushi, egg rolls, boba tea)

The Emergency Scoop (ice cream)

Hy-Vee Grill

El Taco Riendo

Tropical Snow

Pliner’s

Cooks Snack Shack (home-cooked meals)

A new vendor this week is Kreative Kat, selling resin products, resin jewelry, games, coasters and puzzles.
