Illustrator Tim Read is coming to Kendall Young Library

Professional Illustrator Tim Read will present “Cartooning is Out of This World” and lead visitors through a super galactic drawing workshop. This event is Saturday, June 1, from 10:30 a.m. to noon with lunch provided. This program is focused on ages 8 and older.

Here’s some adult summer programs

Adult Crafternoon — Kendall Young Library will be having Adult Crafternoon on Saturday, June 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. A crafting station will be located near the reference desk for adult patrons to relax and craft. If you missed the opportunity to design your own canvas bag (while supplies last), be sure to stop in. This is a free event and no sign-up is required.

Adult Book Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to join in the June Book Club discussion about the book “Then She Was Gone” by Lisa Jewell. The meeting is on Tuesday, June 11, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. A book for the July Book Club will be announced at this time.

Adult Evening Book Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to join in the new Adult Evening Book Club discussion on the book “Gathering: Memoir of a Seed Saver” by Diane Ott Whealy. In preparation, call, stop by or register online at https://tinyurl.com/yrhtbfe. Books are available at Kendall Young Library. The meeting is on Tuesday, June 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. A book for the July Evening Book Club will be announced at this time.

Author Larry Stone — Kendall Young Library is hosting Larry Stone, the author of “Whitetail: Treasure, Trophy, or Trouble? A History of Deer in Iowa,” on Tuesday, June 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. All are invited to hear about Iowa’s original deer herd that vanished in the face of white settlement, and the animals rebounded during the 20th century to the point of overpopulation. It’s a story with broad appeal to farmers, hunters, motorists, and wildlife watchers — anyone whose life has been affected by Iowa deer.
