JEWELL — The occasion Saturday at Jewell Golf was a fundraising event for JADE — Jewell Area Development Enterprises.

Guests were “dressed to impress.” A cocktail hour started the festivities, sponsored by American Sanitation, of Kamrar. The dinner was provided by Silver Spoon Catering — Justine Johnson, of Ellsworth.

After dinner, the third annual dessert auction began. Amazing cakes, cookies, pies and other yummies were on the block for sale to the highest bidders. Lynn Beyer, auctioneer, was in great form working the crowd for top dollar bids.

More than $10,000 was raised between the dessert auction proceeds and the cost of admission.

Heidi Eckers, executive director of JADE and Jewell’s Main Street Program, said, “JADE is a volunteer-led organization and none of our events could happen without the tireless effort and countless work hours of the passionate volunteers.”

JADE administers the Main Street Program for Jewell. The Main Street way is to inspire and engage the property owners, business owners, leaders, residents and visitors to create a shared value in the character of Jewell, including revitalization efforts, she said.
