Hamilton County Board of Supervisors hosts public hearing on fiscal ‘25 budget

The Hamilton County Board of Supervisors meet today in the basement conference room of the Hamilton County Courthouse, 2300 Superior Street, Webster City.

This meeting begins at 9 a.m.

On the agenda is the proposed contract with the Ames Economic Development Alliance, a move the supervisors previously said would help to create a stronger route to future growth.

The supervisors hope to commit to a three-year contract with the Alliance. Hamilton County’s portion of that membership will be $240,000 over the three years.

The City Council of Webster City will likely discuss the contract with the Alliance during one of its May meetings.

“We have such a great new alliance here amongst us with Webster City,” Supervisor Rick Young said when the supervisors first talked about joining the Ames Alliance, “Thanks John Hawkins for being here. It’s unbelievable the conversations that we’re having with them, and together we’re going to work forward to work for something different.”

The supervisors said they won’t leave Hamilton County’s smaller communities out of the progress discussion, but moving forward at first with the county seat is logical.

Also Tuesday, the supervisors will consider a public sculpture funding request from Arts R Alive in Webster City, a local nonprofit that oversees the sculpture installations at West Twin Park in Webster City.

In addition to other agenda topics, the supervisors will hold a public hearing for fiscal year 2025 Hamilton County budget and vote on that budget during the meeting.
