Post 191, HC Veterans, WCHS will host Veterans Day progams today
Veterans will be honored in multiple events in Hamilton County, both before and after Veterans Day, which lands on Saturday this year.
Today the community is welcome to attend the Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony at the Webster City Middle School, 1101 Des Moines St., Webster City.
Doors to that event open at 10:30 a.m.; the ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m.
At 1 p.m. today after an RSVP meal at the high school, Webster City High School will host a Veteran’s Day program “Honoring all those who have served” in the competition gym, 1001 Lynx Ave., Webster City.
Anyone who wishes may attend this program, which will be held in the competition gym. The doors open at 12:30 p.m. for this event. Guests are asked to enter through the doors on the west side of the gym.
These events are being presented in a partnership between Webster City Community Schools, American Legion Post 191 and Hamilton County Veterans Affairs.
On Saturday, Hamilton County Republicans will dish up chili at the Stanhope Community Center, 600 Main St., Stanhope. The doors open at 11 a.m. with the program set to start at noon.
Speakers at this Chili Feed & Silent Auction include U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Tim Scott, Iowa House Majority Whip Henry Stone, State Senator Dennis Guth, and State Representative Shannon Latham.
There is no cost to attend, but freewill donations will be accepted.
On Monday, South Hamilton High School will host its Veterans Day program.
The program begins at 9 a.m. at the high school, 315 Division St., Jewell. The event is in the high school gym.
