Sunset Heights third-graders step into the past

One hundred third-graders from Sunset Heights Elementary recently experienced what it might have been like to live in the Victorian-styled home of Jane and Kendall Young, which is more commonly known as the Jane Young House.

Their tour also included a visit to the next door Kendall Young Library and a walk down Willson Avenue.

Donna Foster shares the life and accomplishments of Kendall Young, emphasizing the generous gift from Kendall Young’s estate that built and supports to this day a public library for the residents of Webster City in the featured photo.

Loween Getter explains one of the Vintage Clothing Exhibits upstairs in the Jane Young House entitled “Skirting the Issue: The Long and Short of It.”

The Jane Young House, which is home to the Webster City Women’s Club, is located at 629 Elm St., Webster City.
