WOOLSTOCK — Two people died Saturday when their motorcycle collided with a turning vehicle just north of Hamilton County and east of Woolstock, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The driver of the motorcycle, Eric Gustafson, of Thompson, and his rider, Mindy Chandler, of Waukee, were fatally injured in the collision.

The ISP said Gustafson was following an eastbound pickup truck when he attempted to pass as the pickup began making a left turn.

His motorcycle hit the rear bumper of the 1995 Ford F15 pickup truck driven by Patricia Krieger, of Woolstock.

Krieger was not hurt.

The accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. near the intersection of 330th Street and Ida Avenue in Wright County. The ISP report states Krieger was attempting to turn onto Ida Avenue from 330th Street.

Gustafson, 52, and Chandler, 48, were taken from the accident scene by Foster Funeral and Cremation Center of Webster City for an autopsy by the state medical examiner in Ankeny.
