They’re beginning to think a lot about Christmas
Angel Tree Ride will bring a dash of chill to the heat wave

But Wendy Clemens is in full holiday mode.
The owner of C&C American Tap, a watering place in downtown Webster City, put the local Angel Tree initiative on her wish list after last year's fundraiser helped the community raise nearly $5,000. That money put Christmas presents under the tree for 50 local kids.
"Wendy Christmas shopped and delivered gifts with the help of friends," Amanda Jones, one of the organizers, said.
This year, on Saturday, she and her committee are doing it again, but in a much bigger way. Together with Andy Jones, Zach Mussman, Tyler Moen and Jones, Clemens will host the First Annual Angel Tree Ride.
Registration for the ride is 9 a.m. with Bloody Marys and mimosas. T-shirts will be available for purchase.
The Blessing of the Bikes is at 11 a.m., at which time wheels will be set to spin.
. For motorcyclists, the ride begins at American Tap, 526 Second St., Webster City, and heads to Riverside Tap in Lehigh, then to Burts Dog House in Boxholm, on to Rungos/Copperhead in Stratford, and Pickles Pub in Kamrar before swinging back to American Tap.
The cost is $30 for motorcyclists.

. That route starts at American Tap, heads to Pickles in Kamrar, Copperhead in Stratford, Riverside Tap in Lehigh, and Stumpy's Bar & Grill in Duncombe before heading back to American.
Registration for side by sides is $40.
Back at American, a 5 p.m. meal will cost $10; there are live and silent auctions at 6 p.m. with Mussman, perhaps better known as Okie.
The Nathan Hanson Band will crank up the festivities from 8 p.m. to midnight with a Party in the Parking Lot. Hansen is described in his promotional materials as "a top tier country artist based in Rochester, Minnesota. He has a passion for entertaining and keeping folks dancing with the best country music of yesterday and today as well as some originals."
There's a $10 cover for that. Just a note: You can bring a chair, but not a cooler.
The Webster City Ministerial Association still administrates the Angel Tree program, Amanda Jones said, but this fundraiser puts some much-needed cash into the coffers.
Clemens "started this as a small fundraiser in the bar," Jones said. "Every year the bar would hold a chili cook off and then have a live and silent auction with auctioneer Okie."
She said, "After last year’s fundraiser Tyler Moen suggested a ride with bikes, side by sides, and pretty much anyone who wanted to join."
So they formed a committee that met every Monday night.
The result brings Christmas to the heat wave.
"The community has been so supportive, from the city, businesses, to people donating in memory of someone," Jones said. "We have a fun day planned; you don’t have to do the ride to come, eat or enjoy the concert. The weather is looking beautiful; grab a chair and come join us."
