Webster City Ministerial Association to bring back summer meals for kids

According to a Wednesday morning news release, the Webster City Ministerial Association announced that it will again be serving free lunches for kids on each Monday and Friday throughout the summer.

With the schools ending their practice of serving summer lunches, the organization knew this was a way to serve the community and make a positive impact beyond the walls of a church.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Monday and Friday during the months of June, July and August, children ages one through 18 are welcome to come down to East Twin Park and grab lunch.

The meals can range from walking tacos to sub sandwiches.

“We learned real quick last year that the highlights (of the lunches) are the fresh fruit, homemade bars and cookies,” said Robin Streigle of the Webster City Church of Christ. “We will continue to serve delicious meals this summer at East Twin Park.”

“Last summer, the ministerial association served an average of 50 kids each meal,” Streigle said.

Streigle’s favorite part of the summer meals program was getting to know the kids and parents, as they came each week.

“Many kids ate and then played on the new playground equipment when done,” Streigle said. “It was a fun time had by all. While others loaded back up in the car and took it home.”

The Webster City Ministerial Association is a group of churches in town that work together to serve the Webster City area communities.

“As believers in Jesus, the church needs to get outside the church walls and serve the community God has us in,” Streigle said. “The Webster City Ministerial Association is excited to be able to be serving the Webster City community again this summer.”

If you have any questions about the summer lunch program, please reach out to Streigle at 515-450-7651.

Starting at $3.46/week.
