The City Council of Webster City will look at amending one of its ordinances in its upcoming meeting, set for 6 p.m. tonight at the Council Chambers within City Hall, 400 Second St., Webster City.

Within the updated ordinance, the City of Webster City will be clearing a path to install an automated traffic enforcement system. Currently, there are no speed cameras within city limits.

However, the council had discussed the possibility of introducing a system since the tail end of last year. Within the amended ordinance, the city has provided its purpose, definitions, vehicle owner’s civil liability for certain traffic offenses, notice of violations and fines, contesting said citation and exceptions to owner liability.

It is the first of three readings that could be passed by the council.

The council also tabled its public hearing for the proposed plans, contract and cost estimate for the Wilson Brewer Courthouse Structural Improvement Project, which was pushed back to June 5.

There are several resolutions that the council will review during their meeting, which includes a request to close the 900-block of Seneca St. from 5 p.m. on July 1 to 2 a.m. on July 2 for a beer garden and live music event, the purchase of two traffic signal sensor replacements and establishing additional handicap parking spot on the east side of Des Moines St., directly north of Second St.
