Webster City’s hotel/motel tax grant applications are available

Once per year, the City of Webster City provides grant funds for increasing tourism, enhancing the quality of life and to entice more people to live, work and play in the seat of Hamilton County.

Organizations and groups seeking help in either directly promoting the city, constructing amenities, infrastructure or attractions, or financial support of activities and events can now apply for those funds.

According to a Tuesday announcement by the city, the municipal hotel/motel tax grant application is available for download.

The application can be found online at webstercity.com/community-development/hotel-motel-tax-grant.

The program accepts applications from public or private organizations (or individuals) with the “demonstrated ability to complete proposed project(s).”

To be in the running for these funds, the application must be filled and a representative from the organization or group must attend the Mandatory Training session, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at the Council Chambers at City Hall, 400 Second St., Webster City.

Last year, grant recipients were the Hamilton County Fair Foundation ($100,000 for the extension for the Hamilton County Event Center at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds), the Hamilton County Speedway ($15,000 for promotion and advertising) and Legacy Learning Boone River Valley ($15,050 for events and workshops to underserved audiences).

The list of grant recipients also included LIFT WC ($69,450 for the installation of the mini-pitch soccer system at East Twin Park), Sunset Heights Elementary ($35,800 for playground equipment replacement project) and the Webster City Community Theatre ($5,710 for short throw projector and promotion of plays for 2022-2023 season).

Starting at $3.46/week.
