Here’s a look at what to expect for Memorial Day services
The following is the schedule of events for Memorial Day, Monday, May 30.
7:30 a.m. — American Legion members who are on the Firing Squad need to be at the Legion.
8 a.m. — American Legion members and Auxiliary assemble at the Legion hall for transportation to the services. Transportation will be provided.
8:15 a.m. — Services at the Marshall Crippen bridge on North Des Moines Street for those lost at sea. The ceremony will be conducted by Post 191 Auxiliary.
8:45 a.m. — Services at Cass Center Cemetery will be conducted by American Legion Post 191.
9:45 a.m. — Formation of the parade will be in the 700 block of Second Street north alley by Pagel Glass.
10:15 a.m. — The parade will proceed south on Des Moines Street to the Boulevard of Valor. There will be a presentation of the roses at the markers. The recognition of active duty military personnel will be conducted by the Auxiliary. The parade will continue to the entrance of Graceland Cemetery on Ohio Street and the Memorial stage.
11 a.m. — Service at Graceland Cemetery, to be conducted by Post 191 Commander Richard Stroner. The speaker will be Pat Farley.
