Another tradition returns: the Webster City High School spring musical.

This year, Tom Mizer is a (fictional) new teacher, and is feeling anxious on his first day of school. As he prepares how he may introduce himself to his students, his inner thoughts come to life.

He turns on the TV, and “Schoolhouse Rock” is on. Tom is shocked when these characters in the television begin talking to him, explaining that they are the ideas in his head.

While very confused and slightly afraid, Tom learns that these parts of him are here to help him prepare for his first day of teaching. The group reminds him what nouns are, how to multiply by threes, how bills are passed, how the United States was founded, and more.

These recognizable tunes have been around since the 1970s, and have played a large part in many of our childhoods and education.

To learn more, attend “Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.” at WCHS Prem Sahai Auditorium. The curtain goes up Friday and Saturday at 7p.m.; and on Sunday at 2p.m. The general admission price is $5.
