Budget matters on the agenda

City Council to meet Monday night

A public hearing on the proposed city budget is on the agenda Monday night for the City Council of Webster City.

The public can join the meeting at 6 p.m. by logging on to the Zoom teleconferencing platform using the meeting ID 883 7626 3381.

The public hearing will start the meeting with consideration of the 2022-23 city budget and the 5-year Capital Improvement Plan. The proposed budget has an overall levy rate of 17.67150 which will generate $4,546,799 in funds for city use.

The council will also consider accepting the work and authorizing the final payment of $35,148 to Westbrooke Construction Company of Urbandale for the completion of the 713 Second St. (the former Elks Building) facade renovation project.

An ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances pertaining to the corporate limits will be considered. The changes come as a result of the annexation of the Reveiz Farms.

A public hearing will be set for the proposed purchase agreement for 3 lots in the 600 block of Second Street. According to a council memo, Hartman Properties, LLC desires to purchase the lots/ Hartman Properties plans to construct a new commercial project on these lots. The price for the City-owned parcel is $15,000. The hearing is expected to be set for April 4 at 6:05 p.m.

In other business, the council will consider authorizing City Manager Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez to sign and execute an engagement letter with the law firm of Ahlers and Cooney. The purchase of a 2022 John Deere Utility tractor is also under consideration on the agenda.
