Council to meet

The City Council of Webster City will consider rejecting all bids for the 2022 electrical underground conversion project when it meets in regular session Monday night at 6 p.m.

The city’s electrical conversion project converts the overhead electrical system to an underground distribution system. The bid letting for the 2022 project was held Jan. 20 at City Hall. Three bids were received, but two were not responsive bids due to the fact they did not include a bid security. The remaining bid did not include all the items requested, and the items that were quoted were 39 percent higher than then the engineer’s estimate, according to a memo from the city manager and the public works director.

The staff recommended that all bids be rejected.

Also on the agenda is a salary increase for City Manager Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez. According to a proposed resolution, an annual salary increase of $2,500 is proposed, bringing his annual wages to $132,500.

The council will also review a change order and the final acceptance of the completed Brewer Creek Shelter project. The project included repairing support columns, deteriorating interior roof beams, and sloping concrete sidewalks surrounding the shelter.

The original contract for the project was $51,300. A change order of $499 for new door latches and handles along with sealing the doors brought the total project cost to $51,799.

A resolution authorizing the purchase of a Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD truck from Karl Chevrolet and a snow plow from Truck Equipment Inc. will also be considered.
