Preserving the history

— Daily Freeman-Journal photos by Anne Blankenship
A ROUGH hewn ladder leads to the second-floor loft in one of the cabins at Wilson Brewer Park. Phil Grossma, the craftsman behind the restoration of the two cabins, said the lofts were common in cabins of the day and offered occupants a warmer place to sleep as the heat in the cabins rose upwards.
PHIL AND TRACY Grossman shared some historical background on the two log cabins at Wilson Brewer Park. The Grossmans deconstructed the originial cabins, refurbished and repaired the logs in their warehouse and then reassembled the cabins on new foundations. The public was able to tour the cabins and the other historic buildings in the park Monday afternoon.
