This year, the event moves to the Hamilton County Fairgrounds and will feature both indoor and outdoor booths and displays. Junquefest will also have a Kids’ Zone and several food vendors on site..
The celebration billed as the “best in all things rusty, dusty and salvaged” — JunqueFest — is back this weekend in Webster City.
“We’re going full-speed ahead,” said Jen Peterman, executive director of the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce, the group organizing the event.
The event, which was last held in 2019 in downtown Webster City, was postponed initially and eventually was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, chamber officials said the event is back, bigger and better than ever. Junquefest will move to the Hamilton County Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday, May 28 and 29. The event, which typically draws thousands of shoppers from all over central Iowa, will be held rain or shine.
“This year, we’ll have both indoor and outdoor vendor booths. We’re using three buildings and they’re already full,” Peterman said.
She said there are many new and also many returning vendors. Shoppers will also find many options for food and drink.
“This year, we’ve added a family zone with entertainment both Friday and Saturday. The National Guard is bringing in their rock wall and we’ll have the Conservation Station from ISU Extension and Outreach,” she said.
On Saturday, naturalist John Laird will present a program and kids will have a chance to Touch a Truck.
Peterman said the air will be filled with music throughout the two-day event. Back Alley Jam is scheduled to perform on Friday, and on Saturday, Mojo Productions will entertain,
“There will be fun, good food and lots of vendors to check out,” Peterman said.
The cost of admission is $1 and those attending will receive a coupon book from the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce. JunqueFest will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
