CLIVE — A Webster City woman said her $18,000 lottery win couldn’t have come at a better time.

Sherri Westbrook, 47, won the third top prize in the Iowa Lottery’s “Win It All” scratch game. She bought her winning ticket at Casey’s, 700 Superior St. in Webster City.

Westbrook, who said she was “pouting” at the time because a recent injury prevented her from working her second, part-time job, scratched the ticket when she got home. When she uncovered a winning symbol, she assumed she’d won the minimum $2 prize.

“I thought, ‘Well, it’s a $2 winner,'” she recalled. “I started scratching it and just saw the zeros and I’m like, ‘Wait a minute!’ It was $18,000!”

She said she woke up her daughter and asked her to look at it to verify her win. Then she checked it on the Iowa Lottery’s mobile app, and sent a screenshot of her winning amount to her friends.

“They were like, ‘Are you kidding me? Is this for real? Is this one of those jokes?'” she said. “I was like, ‘Nope, it’s real!'”

Westbrook said she plans to use her winnings to catch up on bills and possibly do something fun with her two daughters.

“It was just perfect timing,” she said. “Absolutely perfect.”

Win It All is a $2 scratch game that features seven top prizes of $18,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.73. For more information about this game, and the number of prizes still available, visit ialottery.com.
