Jessen named Firefighter of Year

He has been with WCFD since 2004

The Webster City Fire Department recently named Lt. Phil Jessen the 2020 Firefighter.

Jessen, pictured right with Fire Chief Charles Stansfield, is a veteran of the armed forces and he currently is head of maintenance at a large processing plant.

Jessen started his career with the Webster City Fire Department in 2004. More recently, he was promoted to senior firefighter after a challenging testing procedure.

“He has continued to work hard to learn how to be a better firefighter, officer, and overall leader within WCFD,” said Stansfield. “He is always one of the first to arrive, last to leave, and knows what needs to be done, kind of firefighter. His knowledge and work ethic is contagious. He is looked up to by our newer members including our Fire Cadets. He has been a firefighter that we could always count on to show up and work at whatever was needed.”
