Apartment fire investigated

No major damage or injuries reported

Webster City Fire Department is investigating the cause of an apartment fire Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded at about 12:45 p.m. to a call of smoke coming from the first floor of the two-story apartment building at 1104 First St.

Chief Chuck Stansfield said firefighters found smoke coming from the back door of the structure. A search of the building was done and occupants were evacuated, Stansfield said.

The fire was quickly put out and there was no major damage or injuries, according to Stansfield.
