WCF Bancorp, the parent of WCF Financial Bank, on Monday announced that Stephen L. Mourlam has been named Chief Executive Officer & President of WCF Bancorp, Inc. and WCF Financial Bank at a special board meeting held on Feb. 11.

Mourlam had originally retired from these positions in the fall of 2018 but was asked by the WCF Board to return as CEO and president on an interim basis until a permanent CEO is hired. At the special board meeting, the board also accepted the resignation of Michael Segner as CEO and president. Segner resigned to accept a similar position at a Minnesota Bank to be closer to his native home and family, according to officials.

Further, the WCF Board named and appointed Lisa Johnson to the position of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the bank. Johnson joins the bank after a career as an executive in the financial services industry and officials said she will significantly strengthen the fiscal oversight of the bank.

"Steve stepped up to help us transition our CEO position until a permanent replacement is found," said Board Chairman Thomas J. Hromatka. "Steve's experience and history in the fiscal management of the Bank for many years will allow for a very smooth transition in this critical capacity," Hromatka stated.

The Board expects a permanent CEO to be named by midyear 2021.
