EG teen severely injured in crash

EAGLE GROVE – An Eagle Grove teenager was severely injured in a single-vehicle car accident on Sunday afternoon, just east of U.S. Highway 17 on 285th Street.

According to the crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 16-year-old, who was not identified because they are a minor, was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer eastbound on 285th Street from Highway 17 and lost control around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The vehicle entered the north ditch, where it struck a utility pole and came to rest on its side.

The driver was ejected and found outside the vehicle. The driver was taken to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center by Eagle Grove Fire and Emergency Services before being transferred to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.

The Iowa State Patrol was also assisted by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
