COVID testing site is on the move

Community Health Center to set up shop at Iowa Central East Campus

Citing a high demand for COVID-19 testing, Community Health Center of Fort Dodge has moved its test site to the east side of the city.

Rapid testing will now be offered at the Iowa Central Community College East Campus, 2031 Quail Ave., beginning today.

“A larger indoor space was needed for us to accommodate the demand of patients for testing,” said Renae Kruckenberg, CEO of the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge. “This location gives us twice as many drive-thru lanes and offers the ability to have multiple vehicles inside at once.”

The East Campus site will have four lanes of vehicles to pull into the building.

Kruckenberg said anyone experiencing COVID symptoms should not hesitate to call for a test. Symptoms include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting and diarrhea.

“If you are experiencing symptoms, we encourage you to call to be tested,” Kruckenberg said. “If we experience a high volume of calls, you may be transferred to a voicemail. We will return all calls as quickly as possible.”

Testing is by appointment only.

Patients are asked to enter the facility from Quail Avenue to drive through the building and follow the instructions for exiting.

Testing is offered Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 515-576-6500.
