To Protect And Serve

Sheriff Doug Timmons

Doug Timmons, Sheriff

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office

How long have you been in law enforcement?

26 years

What other law enforcement positions/departments have you served in?

Webster City Police Reserve for 2 years; Winnebago County Deputy Sheriff for 5 1/2 years.

What’s an interesting fact about you that some might not know?

I am also a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) on Stratford Fire and Rescue

What is the most memorable incident you’ve responded to?

The Stratford Tornado is definitely the most memorable incident. I was in town on regular patrol when the warning came out and I witnessed the tornado come from the southwest coming straight towards Stratford. Then calling the tornado sighting into dispatch and dodging the tornado. Then coming back into to town after the tornado went through and seeing the destruction. Then seeing everyone pulling together and helping everyone in need out.

What gives you the most satisfaction in your job?

Helping someone out in need of our help and making their experience somewhat easier. Putting a smile on someone’s face when they are having a bad day and building relationships with our youth.

What is the toughest part

of your job?

Calls that deal with death, especially children.
