FD suspect ID’d in Hamilton Co. burglary

Daniel Anthony

STRATFORD — The suspect in a Hamilton County burglary in August was identified Friday by the Hamilton County Sheriff.

Sheriff Doug Timmons said that Daniel Shane Anthony, 30, has been charged with four counts stemming from the burglary of the Copperhead Saloon in Stratford during the early morning hours of Aug. 17.

Anthony has been charged with three counts of third-degree burglary and one count of second-degree criminal mischief, all Class D felonies.

Timmons declined to provide more details on the incident, such as the time of the alleged burglary or the damage sustained by the restaurant and bar, and said he could not immediately provide the criminal complaints against Anthony.

The Fort Dodge defendant is being held in the Webster County Jail on unrelated charges. Other criminal complaints filed against Anthony allege that he tried to break into several Webster City businesses the night of Aug. 4.

Court records reflect that in addition to the new charges, he faces three charges of third-degree attempted burglary and three charges of criminal mischief in varying degrees.
