Date set for LOSST election

The date for the upcoming Local Option Sales and Service Tax election has been set for March 2, 2021 following action taken Tuesday morning by the Hamilton County Board of Supervisors.

County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Kim Schaa said a change in the law has prevented the county from holding the LOSST election in conjunction with the Nov. 3 general election.

“It was was brought to my attention when we were putting together the ballot for the general election that the law changed and this is the first general election they will not allow a Local Option Sales Tax question to be be put on the general election ballot,” Schaa said.

The next special election date available for the LOSST question is March 2, 2021.

“Since we have all of the resolutions from the cities and from the county, we need to set the election for the next available date,” she said.
