To Protect and Serve: Eric McKinley, Sergeant, Webster City Police
How long have you been in law enforcement?
Almost 11 years.
What other law enforcement positions/departments have you served in?
I have only worked for Webster City.
What’s an interesting fact about you that some might not know?
I have an identical twin brother.
What is the most memorable incident you’ve responded to?
There are a lot of memorable incidents, one that I like to tell people is about a call early in my career at Fareway. There was a set of twin brothers there, who were about 3 years old. They had ridden their big wheels to go shopping. Nobody at the store knew who they were and they were unable to tell us their parents names or address. I was able to drive them home by their direction. They got to play with the lights and sirens and help find their dad.
What gives you the most satisfaction in your job?
Just getting a simple thank you or somebody wanting to say they appreciate us as law enforcement can go a long way.
What is the toughest part of your job?
Interacting with people/family who have just lost a loved one is always a tough part of the job.
